Buckhorn Grill Coming Soon to Stoneridge Mall

'Fast-casual' restaurant will open at the mall late this year or early 2012.

's dining options are about to grow with the addition of the Buckhorn Grill.

The "fast-casual" restaurant will open late this year or early 2012, serving top- quality char-roasted tri-tip, salmon, chicken and entrée salads. All are served with yummy sides like fries, rolls and mashed potatoes.

The restaurant will be in the space occupied by , on the second level near Sears. California Pizza Kitchen will move to its full-service location near  in late summer or early fall, according to Christa Williams, Stoneridge Mall's social media coordinator.

Now for a little history on what makes Buckhorn Grill so special. The restaurant only uses Certified Angus Beef, which is top quality. It's aged for three weeks and then topped with a marinade and spices. The meat is charred over an open flame and finished in a wood oven for one of the most juicy and flavorful pieces of meat I have ever tasted. It is hard to believe that such a high-quality product is available at a fast-casual restaurant.

I had my first taste of this delicious tri-tip a few years ago at the San Francisco Metreon location, which is closed for remodeling. Then, the Walnut Creek branch opened. (It has been closed due to remodeling from a fire but recently re-opened.)

Some of my favorite menu items are the Roadhouse Buck ($7.75), which is a tri-tip sandwich served with Roadhouse Onions. They are french fried and topped with red ranch sauce, which is tangy and full of flavor, and bleu cheese crumbles. My second favorite is the “Krispy” Chicken ($6.99), which is a sandwich that comes with lettuce, tomato, and red ranch sauce on a handmade sweet french roll.

All of these sandwiches can be made into a combo and come with sides for $2.50. This includes a drink, and choice of fries, mashed potatoes, garden salad or Roadhouse Onions.

A platter is what you want if you are feeling super hungry or want leftovers. All platters are served with red mashed potatoes, fresh veggies and a roll with butter. My father loves fish, so the Bayou Pepper Salmon ($14.99) is simply divine for him, with two generous pieces of salmon marinated in lemon pepper.

I hope you are as excited as I am that Buckhorn Grill is coming. Seems like a great place to refuel after an intense retail-therapy session.
