9/11 Remembrance Events Happening Around the East Bay

Participate in a commemorative mass, sing along in a remembrance concert or pay tribute at an all-day event.

As the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, many local groups are putting on events in memory of those who lost their lives in the attacks. Check out the special remembrance events happening near your city.

All Saints Episcopal Church, 911 Dowling Blvd., San Leandro

Date and Time: Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Details: All Saints Episcopal Church will have a special mass to reflect, remember and give thanks. The mass will include songs from Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, James Taylor and more.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 114 Montecito Ave., Oakland

Date and Time: Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Details: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will host two music events for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The first event is the Fauré Requiem in D Minor, featuring St. Paul’s Choir and musicians of the Prometheus Symphony Orchestra. The second event is a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor, featuring choruses sung by Chapel College Men and Boys Ensemble.

Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton

Date and Time: Sept. 11 from noon to 7 p.m.

Details: Impact for America will present an event with a memorial, carnival rides, games, food and music.

Sugar Mill Landing Park in Union City

Date and Time: Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.

Details: Head out to the park for a special memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

Price: Free

9/11/11 Project:  A National Requiem of Remembrance

Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2121 Harrison St., Oakland

Date and Time: Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Details: Join in and sing along with the Oakland Symphony Chorus and Oakland Civic Orchestra as they perform Mozart’s Requiem. After the concert, there will be a floral tribute and moment of silence on the Cathedral Plaza.
