Stacy Marcoux of the Castro Valley Sanitary District Completes Certificate Program Designed for Board Secretaries/Clerks

The Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) is pleased to report that Stacy Marcoux, Administrative Assistant, completed the California Special Districts Association’s (CSDA) Board Secretary/Clerk Certificate Program.

The board secretary/clerk in a special district plays a multi-faceted role that is also one of the most highly visible in CVSan. Board members, the public and staff turn to the board secretary/clerk as a resource for information and assistance. In addition, the board secretary/clerk must understand CVSan’s extensive legal requirements, handle a wide variety of situations, respond to the needs of board members and the public, and document board activities and decisions.

In order to become certified under the program, Stacy Marcoux attended two workshops developed specifically by CSDA for board secretaries/clerks, and four elective webinars covering topics ranging from proper records retention and management to how to assist in running an effective board meeting to understanding board member and district liability issues.

This specially designed CSDA program is an excellent opportunity for board secretaries/clerks to further their education, gain a better understanding of the role they play in their special district and discuss issues important to the effective performance of a board secretary/clerk.
