Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) hosted its 12th annual Earth Day Clean-Up event in April 2014. For the third year in a row, CVSan provided each volunteer an opportunity to select 1 of 3 local charities to receive $5.00 on their behalf. CVSan is proudly donating a total of $1,635.00 to local charity groups based on each volunteer’s selection.
Kiwanis representative, Bill Mulgrew, attended CVSan’s July Board meeting and was presented with a donation of $275.00. Mr. Mulgrew thanked CVSan’s Board of Directors for their generous donation. He shared the donation will go towards two of the causes supported by Kiwanis Hayward-Castro Valley Chapter.
Kiwanis International is working to eradicate neo-natal tetanus in partnership with UNICEF. There are 24 countries left with this disease and every 9 minutes a baby dies from it. Additionally, the Kiwanis Hayward-Castro Valley Chapter plans to assist Castro Valley Relay for Life who hosts a hot breakfast for approximately 150 volunteers.
