Village Store Holds Food Label Workshop

3446 Village Drive, Castro Valley is hosting a seminar on reading food labels April 21 from 12 to 1 p.m. The public is invited.

According to the store, the ingredient list on food labels is the most important bit of information on the package, but reading labels can be very confusing and overwhelming if you are not sure of which part to focus upon.

"Many packaged food ingredients have AKAs (Did you know there are at least 50 different names for high fructose corn syrup?) and a long list of nutrition information, but many people do not know what is most important to look for when making a healthy food choice." say store representatives. 

Health Unlimited will also raffle off a special Seventh Generation Green Products Gift Basket in honor of Earth Day for those who attend.
