When modern San Lorenzo was built during World War II it was a revolutionary development that included retail shops as well as houses.
Over the intervening decades the glamor of those shops wore off.
Competition from malls and newer shopping centers has hurt local shopping and has been a source of some complaint – as was captured in a recent Patch interview of Gordon Nickle.
But there are positive developments.
Scott Bohannon, grandson of World War II developer David Bohannon, is upgrading the San Lorenzo Village Shopping Center.
