Video: 18-Year-Old Opens 'Move Over Princess' Formal Wear Shop

The proprietor, Courtney Strysko, a reigning Miss Solano, aims at prom and pageant gowns for young women.

Courtney Strysko, who turns 19 this week, has opened her second business, Move Over Princess, dedicated to selling young women's prom and formal wear.

Based at 3807 East Castro Valley Blvd. in the 580 Shopping Center, the dress shop is her second entrepreneurial effort.

She previously ran a t-shirt business from home.

Her parents, Christine and Wayne Strysko, helped her with the paperwork and finances. They also helped her investigate the possible purchase of Kay's Bridal Boutique, which closed at the end of September.

When that proved uneconomic Courtney Strysko proceeded to start Move Over Princess, which opened its doors Saturday.

In this Patch video the young entrepreneur talks about her concept.

How do you think a formal wear shop for young women will do? What advice, encouragement or warning would you give Courtney?

Thanks for all of the encouragement CV. Our sign has been approved by our landlord and now we're on to the county approval process. Hope it goes smoothly. Come by and see us for our grand opening celebration on February 23rd.

In the mean time, you should post a pic of the soon-to-be sign/logo on here.

The sign approval process seems to be a big deal. Is it a problem?
