Sprouts & Shutters: OSH On Lewelling Is Going, Going But Not Yet Gone

The signs are up but the closure date is not yet set.

We've been waiting and perhaps regretting it ever since Patch reported last July that the Orchard Supply Hardware on Lewelling Boulevard would be closing.

Now the time is nigh. The "everything must go" clearance signs are up at the popular store.

But OSH spokesman Rick Saunders said he isn't sure precisely when the San Lorenzo store will finally and forever shut its doors.

Meanwhile, OSH is discounting most merchandize to the tune of about 10 percent, though the sales could intensify as the shelves empty and the shutdown nears.

In October it was learned that OSH would refurbish its San Leandro store

Are you an OSH shopper. Did you patronize the Lewelling store? Where will you shop once it closes?

Know of other businesses opening or closing? Tell Patch about it using this simple form for our Sprouts & Shutters column.

I did shop regularly at the Lewelling store. I will now split purchases between Pete's, Castro Valley Lumber and Home Depot in Hayward. I am very sorry to see it close.

We did shop all the time at OSH. Now we will take our business to Home Depot. Don''t want to drive to San Leandro. Those sale signs make it look like OSH is really discounting; but 10% discount is nothing and they are still taking deliveries of merchandise.

maybe so, but it's still something. think of it as no sales tax.
