Hayward Farmhouse, A New Restaurant, Is Hiring

Touts "Farm to Table" cuisine. Many positions open at a job fair today.

The Hayward Farmhouse is holding a job fair today from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at 225 West Winton Aveenue in Hayward.

What is it?

According to its web site the Hayward Farmhouse is new restaurant that will offer "off-the-pier-fresh seafood, farm fresh produce, on site hand-cut meat selections."

Sounds like California cuisine ala Alice Waters and Chez Panisse

The menu is posted online.

Yesterday was the first day of the job fair. Today is the second. The new restaurant is looking for line cooks, prep cooks, servers, a hostess, bussers, dishwashers, and bar personnel for all shifts and weekends.

Bring a copy of your resume and California I.D.

There is parking in the rear of the building. Enter through the main entrance.

Good luck.

What do you think about the menu and concept? Does it remind you of anyplace you've eaten?

If it were anything like Chez Panisse, the menu descriptions would include the purveyors of ingredients. Just sayin' :)

Like the Dos Equis beer man says: "I don't always check out the menu at Chez Panisse, but when I do, it's probably because one of my Facebook friends posted on their wall. It's too expensive for our family budget." http://www.chezpanisse.com/menus/restaurant-menu/ I note that the Hayward Farmhouse menu linked in this article doesn't include pricing information. Hopefully there is a little "trickle down" bistro economics at play here. :)

I just go to in the "cafe", upstairs. From the cafe - Almond nougat ice cream with Lucero Farms strawberries - Yes please! Is this place even open? No reviews on yelp. Looks like it's near the mall. From their website: "We are opening soon....Banquet Space available." "a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals." So they have repeat customers before they are even open? Hmmm.

The restaurant is open now, and the menu prices are very reasonable. Chef Ramon is a very knowledgeable food professional. Think comfort food with Asian and Latin twists. The Yelp reviews seem a little unfair for a start up, although the business owners say that they are aware that the staff can use more training. They said that like all restaurants they had to pare down the staff once the cream rises. Looks like it might be worth giving them a shot. You may be wowed.
