Five Guys Opens Saturday at Skywest Commons

Five Guys Burgers and Fries fans rejoice — the burger chain plans holds a grand opening at its .

The Hayward branch is the third Five Guys franchise to open this year in the East Bay. and Fremont welcomed the burger joint a few months ago.

The grand opening, which was set earlier this month, was delayed due to the completion of a building inspection and electrical issues, said Chief Operating Officer Jose Garzona.

Garzona owns both Dublin and Fremont sites and said the Skywest Commons area is a great location for Five Guys to call home. As it turns out, Garzona grew up in the area.

He said he hired over 50 employees, most of whom are high school and college students from the Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro and San Lorenzo area.

Employees will be trained on food preparation and customer service procedures throughout this week leading up to Saturday's grand opening.

Although the restaurant's listed menu offers eight different burgers, four hot dogs, three sandwiches and two kinds of fries, according to the website, there are over 250,000 ways to customize a Five Guys burger.

Not a fan of cheese or meat? Veggie sandwiches and grilled cheese sandwiches, both suitable for lacto-vegetarians, are also offered.
