Cheaper Cigarettes Sells $56,382 Lotto Ticket

It was the first time the store has sold a large sum winning ticket.

One customer at a local smoke shop is sure to be having a great week after spending $1 on a California Mega Millions lottery ticket — the ticket is worth $56,382.

According to the California Lottery website, , located at 31834 Alvarado Blvd. in the Alvarado Plaza Shopping Center, was among 21 retailers in the state where tickets matching five of the six winning numbers were sold within the last week. The winners were announced in Tuesday’s drawing.

No ticket matched all of the whopping $290 million jackpot’s numbers.

The recent winning is the first large sum ticket Cheaper Cigarettes has sold, said store owner Bshir Khan. The store, which has only sold lotto tickets for two years, has never sold a ticket worth more than $500, Khan said.

While the store won’t make a whole lot from the less than one-percent commission, Khan said he hopes news of the winning will attract more customers.

Cheaper Cigarettes wasn’t the only California Lotto retailer in the region to sell a $56,382 winning ticket.

Andy’s Valero on 39990 Fremont Blvd. in Fremont, Arroyo Liquors on 15821 Channel St. in San Lorenzo and Quik Stop on 1100 Lucretia Ave. in San Jose were also among the 21 locations to sell tickets that matched five of the 6 winning numbers.

With no one yet to hit all of the Mega Millions numbers, the jackpot is currently $290 million. Another Mega Millions drawing will be held tonight.

The city of Union City should up their business taxes for cigarette and tobacco stores.

Then Union City should allow a few of the Medical Mary Jane shops to open then ,Tax the hell out of them & other tobacco shops !. Go after the liquor stores next maybe ? It will do nothing but drive business away, the city loses even more of their tax base. No thank you !
