Adela's Yarn Closes in Castro Village; Expected to Relocate

The long-time yarn shop will announce its relocation on its website.

The string's been cut for in Castro Village.

After serving the community for more than 40 years, the shop, located at 3344 Village Dr. location closed its doors for good on July 21. Though the signage is still up, the store remains empty with a closed sign on the door.

According to a message posted on the store's website, Adela's Yarn is expected to move to a new location, which has yet to be announced.

Adela's Yarn offered knitters of all skill levels standard and unique yarn — some being handpainted — along with needles, patterns, accessories, lessons and advice.

Although Castro Valley Patch was unable to contact owner Toni Grief for comment, she has claimed back in May 2011 that her "sales have dropped more than half" where Castro Valley Boulevard merchants shared the struggles their businesses faced with the boulevard .
