:Yes, I realize the profit is in booze but I was hoping this would be a true diner. Hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, milk shakes, and comfort foods like meat loaf and mac-and-cheese. That said, I wish the owners good success. They have a great competitor in Norman's Grill - the best place to eat in Castro Valley.

I'd check out the menu items of Boulevard Burger No. 1 in San Leandro. Perhaps they'll be similar. We still haven't heard back from Wiesner to confirm this. The article stated that they would serve hamburgers, malts and milkshakes.. not sure about the others you mentioned.

Boulevard Burgers in San Leandro is excellent. The beer and wine selection is only a compliment to the menu...the burgers (grass fed beef, turkey and vegetarian) are the main attraction along with the fresh sweet potato fries and shakes. Mr. Wiesner's Paradiso Restaurant is one of the finest restaurants in the area and BB has become a very popular addition to the neighborhood.

Thanks for sharing this great info with us, Robert. I'm a sweet potato fries fanatic so this is great to hear!

Robert you are so right, Boulevard Burgers are excellent. It will be exciting to see if Mike Wiesner is able to squeeze out another ABC license in Castro Valley. The last time I heard through Nate Miley's office, the Unincorporated Area density of places that may sell beer and wine is past saturation. That being said it will be very nice to have a quality burger place to make up for the passing of JD's at the least. I look forward to the grand opening this summer.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/boulevard-burger-san-leandro#hrid:Xyj02ZOnUCoM5mcAUNntEg - when I last tried Boulevard Burger I was sorely disappointed and have not returned for the reasons outlined in my detailed review linked above. However, even a mediocre dining establishment opening in that location will be a step, albeit a baby step for Castro Valley's dining scene.

Analisa, based on your write up and the responses, it appears that this will be a Boulevard Burger #2, not a 1950's style diner like Emil Villa's, correct? Nothing wrong with Boulevard Burgers, but competition with such esteemed dining hot spots such as Doug's, Dino's and Shari's would be welcome indeed.

All the good ones are leaving....Acapulco in Alameda, Bancheros, JD`s and Pyzanos` in Castro Valley and even Yans` in Lafayette, excellent chinese food.......where has all the history gone?

Wow, Norman's Grill as competition? I had a burger there and it literally tasted like they boiled the meat. Absolutely terrible meal! Glad somebody likes it.

Kristy, you are so right. I have eaten there twice. No more. I had a burger and fries both times. First was not bad, about a month after their opening. My wife and I ate lunch there three weeks ago and it was awful. I suspect that they are doomed to failure.
