Fallen Tree Initially Causes Power Outage for More Than 5,000

Where are you at and are you currently without power?

Lights were out for several businesses and stoplights across Castro Valley Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on power lines along Heyer Avenue.

PG&E's Electrical Outages map reports that the power outage occurred around 11:39 a.m. Tuesday afternoon, affecting more than 5,000 customers.

Castro Valley News reports that a fallen tree along Heyer Avenue had hit some power lines, resulting in the outage.

Readers on Castro Valley Patch's Facebook page said they were without power on Walnut Road, Anita Avenue and Forest Avenue.

Several fire trucks and Alameda County Sheriff's cars are situated along Somerset Avenue from Staton Avenue to Redwood Road since stoplights are competely off.

At 12:30 p.m., about 900 customers remained without power.
