Big Rig Crash Spills 80 Gallons of Diesel Fuel on Interstate 880

Shortly after 2 a.m. two lanes of the highway remained closed.

Firefighters are responding to help clean up a diesel spill from a traffic collision on northbound Interstate Highway 880 in East Oakland this morning, fire officials said.

At around 1:30 a.m. a big rig truck struck the struck sand barrels on the right side of the highway near High Street and came to rest on top of a concrete divider, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A sig-alert was issued at 1:50 a.m. advising motorists that three lanes of the highway were blocked by the collision.

Oakland firefighters were called because approximately 80 gallons of fuel was spilled, however the spill is not affecting the roadway, according to the CHP.
