Pedestrian Struck By Amtrak Train Dies

A person who was struck by an Amtrak train in San Lorenzo on
Wednesday afternoon has died, according to the Alameda County coroner's
bureau.

The pedestrian was hit by southbound Amtrak Capitol Corridor train
No. 537 at East Lewelling Boulevard around 2:30 p.m., Amtrak officials said.

The train was heading to San Jose from Sacramento.

The person was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead,
according to the coroner's bureau.

 The coroner's bureau is withholding the pedestrian's name until it
has notified the person's next of kin.
