'Sound of Music' Comes To Castro Valley Center for the Arts

Evening and matinee shows this weekend and next bring some of your favorite things to life.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things

Enjoy one of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most popular musicals when the Notre Dame de Namur College theatre arts department performs "The Sound of Music" at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts.

The show runs this weekend and next with evening an matinee performances.

Visit the Castro Valley Arts Foundation website for exact times and to pre-order ticket.

Tickets cost $17 to $33.

Making her big stage debut will be Tori Speed, a 12-year-old Creekside Middle School student, playing the role of Brigitta.

The Center for the Arts is located at 19501 Redwood Road on the Castro Valley High School campus, about one mile from the Castro Valley BART station.

The box office opens 1 hour prior to a performance and can be reached at (510) 889-8961.

What's your favorite musical? And song?

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.
