Do You Know Any of These Celebrities from Castro Valley?

The Internet Movie Database lists 24 "popular people" born in our hometown, while Wikipedia has a longer list.

Outside of the Bay Area, you’re likely to get a puzzled look when you tell folks where you’re from. A lot of that might be because no one has really put us "on the map."

There aren’t any big Hollywood stars claiming Castro Valley as their hometown (though Clint Eastwood’s wife has given us a nod), and no rappers were shouting out “Ca$h Flow” at the Grammys.

While browsing around the internet for local finds we did, however, come across this list of “Most Popular People Born in Castro Valley” on IMDB.com.

We don’t know who compiled the list, how it’s ranked or why it was assembled in the first place but most of the names don’t ring heavy bells.

No. 1 on the list is an actor named Garret Dillahunt, who had roles in critically acclaimed films such as “No Country for Old Men” and “Winter’s Bone.” We don't remember him, either.

No. 2 is Dina Eastwood, wife of Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood, who is the subject of E! reality show Mrs. Eastwood and Company about Dirty Harry's family.

Rounding out the top five are actor Christopher Titus, actor Michael Edwards — who, according to IMDB was a one-time live-in lover of Priscilla Presley — and television host, political commentator and author Rachel Maddow.

Wikidepedia’s list is a bit longer. It includes musicians and athletes, such as late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton and former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, among others. Tony Gemignani, owner of Pyzano's Pizza, also gets a nod in the Notable Residents section for being a “world champion pizza tosser.”
