Sheriff's Deputy Shoots Suspect in Castro Valley

An officer with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office shot the driver of a suspect vehicle on westbound Interstate Highway 580 late Thursday night. Authorities are investigating the incident. Click herefor the entire report.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Amtrak Train

A pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train in San Lorenzo Wednesday afternoon. Officials said the train was traveling southbound at East Lewelling Boulevard when the pedestrian was struck. The person, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Endorses Rep. Eric Swalwell for Re-Election

The general election is about 18 months away, but Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin) received a significant endorsement Monday with his re-election campaign on the horizon. Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, came out strongly in favor of the freshman congressman, emphasizing his commitment to women.
