Photo Gallery: Second Annual Castro Valley Gay Pride Rally

Support builds for this new tradition as a local and regional event dedicated to equality and pride.

 

It was an atmosphere of love and support at Castro Valley's second annual Gay Pride Rally, held at Castro Valley High School.

This year's event has grown since last year with over 40 vendors compared to last year's 4. Booths at the event consisted of various LGBT organizations and vendors showing their support.

This year, they are focusing on their community, their families, LGBT civil rights issues and the continued push for equality. 

Senator Ellen Corbett and Congressman Pete Stark were both on hand at the event speaking of their support of LGBT issues.

A few protestors were present at the event, but were only there for a short time. 

“We think it’s important for our friends and neighbors to understand that our families are the same as theirs, and that we live right alongside them in Castro Valley and many other small East Bay communities," event organizer Billy Bradford said. "We shop at the same stores, our kids go to the same schools, and we share the same visions and values that all small town Americans share.”
