3. Ever wonder how to saddle, groom and bridle a horse? Let's follow Lisa Gillis, a Castro Valley equestrian, as she shows you step by step what riders do to get their horses ready to ride.

4. Many horses have suffered in this down economy. Some have been abandoned to fend for themselves and others are shipped to Mexico for slaughter. It is a very sad situation. Bay Area horse lovers have rallied behind a local horse rescue, Horses’ Honor Horse Rescue and Sanctuary, and have helped again and again to raise money to help these sweet animals.

5. Looking for a fun family outing? We are so fortunate to have the stellar Oakland Zoo in our very own back yard. It is respected throughout the country as one of the best…and it is our very own. Pack a lunch and head out for a fun day.
