The American Red Cross is experiencing a drop in blood donors this time of year due to weather, flue season and busy schedules. In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the National Day of Service, U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell and the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hayward Castro Valley Moose Lodge No. 1491.
Rep. Swalwell will be at the blood drive from 9 to 9:40 a.m.
“I look forward to joining the community to donate blood and give back during the National Day of Serve on MLK Day,” he said. “I’m happy to help organize a blood drive in our East Bay community to address the blood shortage this time of year and save lives.”
If interested in donating blood, please call (925) 460-5100 or visit the American Red Cross website and use the sponsor code SWALWELL.
The Hayward Castro Valley Moose Lodge No. 1491 is located at 20835 Rutledge Road in Castro Valley.
