Marta Szabo, author of the popular memoir The Guru Looked Good and co-director of Authentic Writing will be coming to Yoga in the Middle in Castro Valley for a memoir-writing workshop on Saturday, December 1, 2-5pm.
The workshop is for all writers – those who have been at it for a while, those who long to begin, and everyone in between.
“I like to think of the Authentic Writing workshop as a studio,” says Szabo, “a place where people come to create and explore. You can come to the workshop having no idea what you’ll be writing – just knowing that you want to create something -- and I guarantee that you will go home with pages of fresh material.”
Authentic Writing was founded almost 20 years ago in 1993 by the writer Fred Poole, whom Szabo married in 2001. Together they host weekly workshops in their home in Woodstock, New York as well as in Manhattan and at the Omega Institute each summer.
“I have been a fan of Marta’s writing for years,” says Nancy Leigh-Smith, director of Yoga in the Middle. “I’m delighted that she’s agreed to offer a workshop in the bay area, right here in Castro Valley.”
The workshop costs $55 -- $45 if you register before November 24. Register online at yogainthemiddle.com, or in person at the studio in the Village Galleria, 20211 Patio Dr. Suite 235, Castro Valley, CA.
