Did you see a spout of water behind the Safeway at 580 Marketplace late Tuesday afternoon?
If so, it was part of firefighting drill. Firefighters shot a water canon from an erect ladder truck as part of a training exercise.
The stream of water, visible from Interstate 580, even slowed traffic for a time.
Firefighters told Patch that they have few opportunities to train in Castro
Valley and took advantage of this location to provide that opportunity.
