Castro Valley Residents Rebuilding a New Home for Mike Rice, In Honor of Barbara Latiolais

Residents and local Castro Valley businesses are being asked to help rebuild the house that was set on fire and killed Barbara Latiolais.

On October 17, 2012, Castro Valley resident, Barbara Latiolais was strangled and later burned to death by Christian Birdsall and Cody Nicosia.

Almost one year later — close friends of Latiolais and her husband, Mike Rice, are in the process of rebuilding the house from the ground up.

Latiolais and Rice’s house was located on 2431 San Carlos Avenue, Castro Valley.

Sharon Giacomini, Latiolais’ close friend, has been going through the debris from the fire and refurbishing items to put back into the new house for Rice.

Giacomini is asking the community and local Castro Valley hardware stores for their support and help in this project.

The two teenagers arrested for Latiolais’ death have had their hearing postponed until October 23.
