Castro Valley Resident Named Semifinalist in Pillsbury Bake-Off

Help Castro Valley resident, Pamela McDaniels, to compete in the Pillsbury Bake-Off finals by voting for her BLT Quiche Sticky Bun Sliders.

Pamela McDaniel, a Castro Valley resident, is one of the 60 semifinalists competing in the 46th Annual Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.

McDaniel is competing in the “Quick Shine and Rise” category with her recipe of BLT Quiche Sticky Bun Sliders (I was able to try one and they are AMAZING!). Watch the video above to learn how to make this quick and easy breakfast.

McDaniel, who likes to think of herself as a scientist when it comes to cooking, was able to come up with this creative breakfast recipe in just a few weeks.

“I love burgers! I love eating breakfast at any time of the day,” said McDaniel. “And I love quiche!”

The BLT Quiche Sticky Bun Slider looks like a burger but is a delicious breakfast type of sandwich. The apricot spread on the buns gives it a nice sweet flavor, but the bacon in the quiche evens the taste out — you get a little bit of the sweet and salty with each bite.

McDaniel submitted her recipe to Pillsbury; and out of thousands of entries, Pillsbury’s food testers chose her as one of the 60 semifinalists. Out of these 60 semifinalists, only 33 will be chosen to compete for the $1 million grand prize at the Bake-Off Contest finals in Las Vegas from Nov. 10 through 12.

“It would mean a lot to me if I was able to go to the finals,” said McDaniel. “I want to put California on the map, better yet…Castro Valley.”

McDaniel is one out of two semifinalists from California.
