Yikes! Batmobile Stranded on Estudillo Avenue!

Times are so tough Batman must change his own flat. Here's how to make a fun, cheap Halloween display with recycled materials.

What would you do with a larger-than-life display after Halloween?

Well, you take it apart and then use most of those items for a different display next year.

That is what we have done for about 5 years.

This year we built a 28-foot-long Batmobile for Halloween using only recyclable, reusable materials.

These are some of the items used:

  • Lawn Edging Strips
  • Dryer Vents
  • Stucco Netting
  • Wire Mesh
  • Black Plastic
  • Used Cardboard Boxes
  • Chicken Wire
  • Used Wooden Pallets
  • Paper Mache

The engine is made out of wine and water bottles. Garden bins covered with thin sheets of aluminum foil form the base and it is mostly illuminated via several sets of solar powered blue and red lights.

The main character, however, is Batman himself kneeling down and changing a flat tire of the Batmobile. (You are aware of the economic situation, right?).

Most likely, the Joker got away. Oh well, next time. (We hear he might show up at our Halloween party.)

The walls of the house are covered with black landscaping material. We used chicken wire to created the skyline of the famous Gotham City illuminated with Christmas lights hidden behind.

If you come to see it, please do not help Batman... he will eventually get that tire fixed!

Happy Halloween!
