After a grueling day of competition, the queen was announced at the annual Rowell Ranch Rodeo dinner dance. Mark your calendar for the main events coming up in May.

And the winner of the Rodeo Queen Contest is…..

Saturday was a busy, exciting day for three lovely young women who vied for the title of Rowell Ranch Rodeo Queen 2011.

Throughout the day they competed with each other in several categories—horsemanship, personality, appearance, poise and public speaking.  They rode. They answered questions. They spoke before a large crowd at the dinner dance in Livermore.

At the end of the day, a winner was chosen—22-year-old Danielle Williams from Tracy.

Danielle is not only an expert horsewoman but also very well rounded with interests in scuba diving, 4-H, FFA and music. As Rodeo Queen, Danielle will host the Annual Rowell Ranch Pro Rodeo May 20-22. She will also travel throughout the state representing the rodeo and our community at various events.

Rowell Ranch is in Dublin Canyon between Castro Valley and Pleasanton, south of 580. It defines our region's history. Harry Rowell was kind of a British "John Wayne" born in England in 1891 who became "Rodeo King of the West."

Rowell's Saddlery is still in business in downtown Castro Valley, and the ranch is still going strong on the Dublin grade.
