Hayashi Introduces Bill For LGBT License Plate
Assemblywoman get back into action with a bill that would promise proceeds of plate sales to anti-bullying programs.

Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward) has introduced a bill to create the first lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) specialty license plate for California.
If passed and signed into law AB 1539 would make California the fourth state in the nation—after South Carolina, Indiana, and Maryland— to offer a LGBT-themed license plate, according to a press release from Hayashi's office.
Proceeds from plate sales would go to anti-bullying programs through the state Department of Education.
Patch has asked Hayashi's staff for an estimate of the bill's financial impact.
The action signals a return to legislative business as usual for Hayashi, who has been under a cloud since she was arrested in October for walking out Neiman Marcus in San Francisco with nearly $2,500 in unpaid clothing, including a leather skirt.
Hayashi pled no contest to misdemeanor charges and received a slap on the wrist earlier this month, but has continued to focus on her legislative duties despite criticism and calls for her resignation.

With all the problems going on in California, a bill about adding a gay specialized license plate? This klepto needs to resign. She's absolutely useless.

Her husband Dennis Hayashi is a Superior Court Judge working in San Leandro, dept 402. He presides over juvenile cases. Mary, you're setting a great example for the kids. All those concerned are encouraged to phone both of Ms. Hayashi's offices. Leave her a message, tell her to resign or announce that she is leaving politics when her term ends in November. She has $800,000 in campaign contributions that she is planning to spend on a CA State Senate race. She must leave or announce she is leaving. The people can no longer pay her to make decisions for them.

I suppose this was done to prove her so-called "temporary insanity" plea which apparently got her off for her crimes. I'll remember that one if I ever decide to take a road towards crime. I'm sure this action keeps the judges (including her husband) looking like they did the right thing. WRONG. She should resign NOW.

Although I think she deliberately walked off with the merchandise, she still has a job to do in Sacramento and that's a separate incident from this legislation. There's too much anti LGBT chatter, and there's too much bullying in schools. If she can get this bill passed more power to her.

I'm sorry, I cannot reconcile that comment. If she stole on purpose she shouldn't be on our payroll.
If the best she can do for the state is write bills about license plates... I agree with a previous poster, she should be working the production line of the plates.

You misunderstand what I was saying, or perhaps I didn't make myself clear. She IS on our payroll, and will be on our payroll as long as or until the voters vote her out of office. Until then, she is in Sacramento introducing and voting on legislation. Since she is there, passing LGBT
